In June 2020 Ford introduced the fourteenth-generation F-150, the best-selling pickup in America. It went on sale as a 2021 model. The look is an evolution, but underneath it is a new truck, and for the first time there was a hybrid.

Exterior

The styling stays close to the 2015 to 2020 truck: bigger LED signatures in the headlamps, a larger grille, new bumpers and eleven grille designs depending on trim. Active grille shutters improve aerodynamics. The truck still rides on a fully boxed steel frame with an aluminum-alloy body.

Inside

For the first time the F-150 could have a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, and higher trims got a 12-inch center screen with SYNC 4. Base trucks keep analog gauges and an 8-inch screen. Options include leather and a Bang & Olufsen system with 18 speakers. Co-Pilot360 2.0 added pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection, rear braking and, later, the hands-free BlueCruise system on mapped North American highways.

PowerBoost hybrid

The new 3.5L PowerBoost pairs the 3.5 EcoBoost V6 with an electric motor built into the 10-speed automatic, fed by a 1.5 kWh battery. Ford quoted up to about 700 miles of range on a tank. The all-electric F-150 Lightning followed for 2022.

Working on a 2021 or newer F-150

This generation brought a new electrical architecture, over-the-air updates, Pro Power Onboard generators and a hybrid system with high-voltage safety procedures. Engine choices run from the 2.7 and 3.5 EcoBoost to the 3.3 V6, 5.0 V8 and the Raptor’s high-output engines. The factory service manual for your truck is built for your VIN, so you get your exact engine, transmission and options, with torque specs, diagnostics and the complete wiring diagrams.

Our manuals are the manufacturer’s own service information for your VIN, delivered as a PDF with working hyperlinks: click a step in the index, or a connector in a wiring diagram, and you go straight to it. No scanned pages, no guessing.
